On Thursday,16 April 2020, we learnt that an 89-year-old resident at our Senja Home was confirmed to have the COVID-19 infection. She had been well prior to this. We immediately reached out to the resident’s family to offer support. We have also informed the families of other residents at our Home.
Once we learnt of the case, we immediately conducted a thorough cleaning and disinfection of the ward and other affected areas of our Home. We have screened our residents and staff, and are closely monitoring their health. Their health and safety are our priority. Our Home has put in place enhanced precautionary measures as advised by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC).
These measures include twice-daily temperature taking of our residents and staff, making it mandatory for all staff to wear personal protective equipment when attending to residents, split-zones to minimise cross-contact as well as stepping up the cleaning frequency of our Home. We had also stopped all visits to our Home from 2 April 2020.
We have also reiterated to our staff to keep strictly to infection control and hand hygiene practices. MOH and AIC are supporting us in managing the situation, such identifying those who need to be quarantined as well as manpower support to ensure service continuity, if needed. We will continue to monitor the situation at our Home closely.
We seek your understanding during this period. Thank you.
On November 17th 2018, the Lengkok Bahru Nursing Home welcomed guests to take part in its first Art Exhibition, displaying the original artwork by our talented residents. The pieces on display, each reflecting the artists' life journeys and identities, together with the live performances from the residents, sparked important conversations about the empowering role of art in the process of aging.
This event gathered the community together, presenting a unique opportunity to connect and celebrate our seniors.
